Almost every prescription tool sold to Bangladeshi doctors has a free way in, and the free tiers are not alike. This guide reads twelve vendors’ own pages in October 2026 to show what a free tier tends to cap, what paying actually adds, and how to decide for your own chamber. Prescriply publishes this page and is one of the products compared; the note at the end says how a vendor can ask for a correction. For the full price list, see how much prescription software costs in Bangladesh.
What do free prescription software plans usually include?
Free plans in this market let you write and print prescriptions, then fence the rest. The fences we found were a daily or monthly prescription cap, a patient cap, no assistant accounts, no digital signature, a vendor line on every prescription, and a monthly AI limit.
Five of the twelve vendors have no ongoing free tier: they offer a trial, a demo or nothing. Free tiers read: ChamberBD (10 prescriptions a day), Doctors Canvas (50 prescriptions a month), CloudRx (30 prescriptions), ZilSoft's GP-AID programme (50 prescriptions a month, new physicians only) and E-Prescription App (5 prescriptions a day). MedicBD (Prescriber®) and DoctorOS Solo are free for doctors who prove BMDC registration.
What do paid plans add?
The same things unlock on the paid plans we read: more prescriptions, more chambers, more assistant accounts, a bigger AI allowance, and branding or reporting features. None of the vendors states how many text messages a plan includes; SMS is sold per message or from a balance at several of them.
- More prescriptions. CloudRx’s paid plans differ only by monthly volume, 1,000, 2,000 or 3,000 (crxbd.com/pricing (opens in a new tab)). Doctors Canvas allows 100 and 200 a month on its two paid plans (doctorscanvas.com/pricing (opens in a new tab)).
- More chambers and helpers. ChamberBD’s Standard allows 1 chamber and 1 staff account, Pro allows 3 and 3, and Premium is unlimited (chamberbd.com/pricing (opens in a new tab)). ProtonEMR’s single cloud plan lists multi-chamber and assistant accounts without a tier ladder (protonemr.com.bd/pricing (opens in a new tab)).
- A bigger AI allowance. Doctors Canvas gives 200 and 600 AI suggestions a month on its paid plans, against 100 on its free plan. CloudRx says AI is included on every plan.
- Appointments, reminders and several chambers. ShifaSoft’s Professional level adds appointment management, SMS reminders and multiple chambers to its Starter level (shifasoft.com/prescription (opens in a new tab)).
When is a free plan enough?
A free plan is enough when you work in one chamber, your busiest day fits under the cap, nobody else needs a login and you accept what the vendor prints on the prescription. At 30 patients a day, about 600 prescriptions in a 20-day month, you are above every capped free tier here.
Prescriply’s published fair-use ceiling is 500 prescriptions a day and 3,000 a month.
When does paying make sense?
Paying makes sense when a specific cap or missing feature costs you more than the plan: a second chamber on a plan that allows one, an assistant who needs a login, AI drafting beyond the free allowance, or a one-time offline licence for a machine with no internet.
Price the whole year, not the month, and add the extras described in the price guide.
How do I decide? Five steps
Decide in five steps: measure your busiest day, count your chambers and helpers, list the features you cannot give up, check what the free tier removes, and try it on real prescriptions. Run all five before you pay for anything.
- Measure your busiest day. Count the prescriptions you write on your busiest day and in a typical month, then set that beside each free tier's cap. A cap per day and a cap per month behave very differently.
- Count chambers and helpers. List your chambers and the assistants who need their own login. Several free tiers allow one chamber, and some allow no assistant account at all.
- List what you cannot give up. Offline use, AI drafting, a digital signature, your own letterhead and text messages to patients are each free at some vendors and paid at others. Write down which ones your day needs.
- Check what the free tier removes. A vendor line on every printed prescription, a patient limit or a missing signature is a cost even when the price is zero. Look at a sample printout before you commit.
- Try before you pay. Write real prescriptions on the free tier or trial, and pay only when you can name the cap or the missing feature that the plan removes.
What does Prescriply’s free plan include?
Free: unlimited prescriptions and settlement. AI assist is pay-as-you-go. Patient SMS is free within a published fair-use limit. See the fair-use limits. If what is free ever changes, we will tell every doctor at least 30 days before the change takes effect, and post the date on the pricing page.
Free includes every tool, the full chamber revenue and settlement engine, and one assistant seat. The published fair-use ceiling is 500 prescriptions a day and 3,000 a month. AI assist is pay-as-you-go with prepaid credits, priced before each action. New doctors get ৳30 of AI credit once, to try AI assist. Plus is an optional add-on: ৳199 for 30 days or ৳1,990 for 365 days (save ৳398), VAT included. On a plan you pay for yourself it adds ৳200 of AI credit every 30 days (12 times on a 365-day plan), and unlimited assistant seats while the plan is running. A plan you buy never renews by itself; you renew with one tap. Everything listed in the Free plan stays in the Free plan. The payment page (EPS) may add about 2% of its own fee to what you pay. Full terms are on the pricing page.
Frequently asked questions
Is free prescription software good enough for a chamber doctor?
It can be, if its cap fits your busiest day and you do not need a second chamber or an assistant login. At 30 patients a day (about 600 prescriptions a month) you are above every capped free tier in the table. Prescriply's free plan has a fair-use ceiling of 500 prescriptions a day and 3,000 a month.
If what is free ever changes, we will tell every doctor at least 30 days before the change takes effect, and post the date on the pricing page.
What is the catch with free prescription software?
The catch is the fence, not a hidden fee. In the tiers we read it was a prescription cap, a patient cap, no assistant accounts, no digital signature, a vendor line on the printout or an AI limit. Read each vendor's limits before you start, because limits change.
The table above lists every free tier we read, with the page each came from.
Does Prescriply limit how many prescriptions I can write for free?
Not by plan. Prescriply publishes one fair-use ceiling for every doctor on the free plan, 500 prescriptions a day and 3,000 a month, and below it prescriptions are unlimited. Free: unlimited prescriptions and settlement. AI assist is pay-as-you-go. Patient SMS is free within a published fair-use limit.
If what is free ever changes, we will tell every doctor at least 30 days before the change takes effect, and post the date on the pricing page.
Do I need a paid plan to give my assistant a login?
At some vendors, yes. ChamberBD's free plan has no staff accounts and Doctors Canvas's free plan has no assistant accounts. Prescriply includes one assistant seat on the free plan, and an assistant can run the serial queue and take fees but can never write a prescription.
Which vendors offer free access only to BMDC-registered doctors?
MedicBD (Prescriber®) describes its software as free of charge and only for BMDC-registered doctors, who prove it by sending documents. DoctorOS Solo is free for BMDC-verified doctors, checked against the BMDC register, usually within 24 hours, and costs ৳1,500 a month for a non-BMDC doctor.
Both pages are linked in the sources below. Prescriply asks for your registration number at sign-up, and an admin reviews it by hand before a Verified badge is shown.
How often do free tiers change?
Without notice. At least one vendor changed its free-plan limits between our September and October 2026 readings. We read every page again before changing a figure, and the tables here link each source. Check a vendor's pricing page on the day you decide, and keep a screenshot of the plan you chose.
