How do I check a doctor's BM&DC registration number?

To check a doctor's BM&DC registration, open the official register at verify.bmdc.org.bd, choose the MBBS/BDS Doctor tab, enter the number as digits only (drop any "A-" prefix), pick the doctor type, complete the captcha and search. A match confirms registration; no match is a red flag. The formatter below prepares the number but does not search the register.

Step by step

  1. 1. Get the registration number

    Find the doctor's BM&DC registration number — it should appear on their prescription pad or chamber signboard, or on their registration certificate.

  2. 2. Format it with this tool

Why check a registration number at all?

Because most patients meet a prescriber they have never met before. Bangladesh has just 0.722 physicians per 1,000 people (World Bank, 2023), seeing patients across 16,979 private healthcare institutions (BBS Survey of Private Healthcare Institutions, 2021). The registration number on the pad is the one thing a patient can check independently, in about a minute, against the council's own register.

Red flags to watch for

  • • No match for a number printed on a pad or signboard.
  • • A registration that has lapsed or was never renewed.
  • • A degree or title on the pad that doesn't match the register.
