Why an online profile matters for a Bangladeshi doctor

Many patients now look for a doctor online before they ever walk into a chamber. If a patient cannot find you online — with your specialty, your chambers and a way to book — they find someone they can. That is a real cost in a crowded profession: Bangladesh had 134,568 doctors on the BM&DC register (2024) and 16,979 private healthcare institutions (BBS Survey of Private Healthcare Institutions, 2021), so simply being visible and easy to book is a genuine advantage. You can also confirm any registration on the official register at verify.bmdc.org.bd and read the underlying figures in the 2026 digital-prescription data report.

A Prescriply profile is not a separate product you have to build. It is generated from the same account you use to write prescriptions and run your chambers — so the address, hours and specialty patients see are the ones you already keep up to date.

What is a Prescriply doctor profile?

A Prescriply doctor profile is a free, public page — at prescriply.bd/dr/{specialty}/{username} — that presents a doctor's professional information to patients and search engines. It shows your name, specialty and sub-specialties, qualifications, chambers with addresses and visiting hours, languages, and a free online-booking widget. It shows none of your patients' data.

Every listed profile is also grouped into the public doctor directory, where a patient can browse a specialty — cardiology, gynaecology, medicine, dentistry and more — and open the doctor they want.

How do patients find and book me?

Patients reach you three ways: through the directory at prescriply.bd/doctors, through a search engine that has indexed your profile page, or through a link you share (on Facebook, a card, or a scan-to-book QR poster in your waiting room). On your profile they read your details and reserve an appointment serial — free — and you see it in your queue. They pay only your consultation fee at the chamber.

Because each profile has its own clean, server-rendered URL, it is eligible to appear in Google results and in AI answer engines when someone searches your name or “{specialty} doctor near me”. That is discovery you do not have to pay for.

How to get your free profile listed (step by step)

Getting listed takes a few minutes and no design skills. Here is the whole process:

  1. Create your free account. Sign up at prescriply.bd/register with your email or mobile number — email verification uses a copy-friendly one-time code, so you are in within a minute.
  2. Add your chambers and hours. Enter each chamber's name, address and visiting hours. A profile needs at least one active chamber with an address before it can be listed.
  3. Complete your profile. Add a photo, a short bio, your qualifications and your primary specialty. Optionally add sub-specialties, education, experience and languages.
  4. Submit your BM&DC registration (optional but recommended). Enter your BM&DC registration number for a Prescriply admin to review. Once approved you carry a 'Registration reviewed by Prescriply' badge and rank first within your specialty.
  5. Turn on online booking. Enable booking in Settings so patients can reserve a free appointment serial from your profile. Booking is always free for the patient.
  6. Publish and get listed. Publish your profile. Once it is complete and a Prescriply admin approves it, it appears in the public directory at prescriply.bd/doctors and at your own address, prescriply.bd/dr/{specialty}/{username}.

Only complete profiles are listed and indexed — a half-empty page helps no one and hurts search quality, so Prescriply keeps thin profiles out of the directory until they carry a photo, a bio, a specialty and a chamber with an address, and an admin has approved them.

What the “verified” badge does and does not mean

A doctor marked “Registration reviewed by Prescriply” has had their self-reported BM&DC registration number checked and approved by a Prescriply admin. It is a manual review, not an automated check against the BM&DC register, and it speaks to registration — not clinical competence. Verified doctors are shown first within a specialty, which is why submitting your registration is worth the few minutes. Patients can always confirm a registration themselves at verify.bmdc.org.bd. You can read more in our guide to verifying a doctor's BM&DC registration.

Is my directory placement fair?

Yes — and it is designed to stay that way. The directory is open to every doctor on Prescriply on equal terms. Within a specialty, order is decided by two disclosed signals only: whether your registration has been reviewed by Prescriply, then how recently your profile was updated. Placement is never sold. There is no paid boost, so a patient sees a listing they can trust rather than the highest bidder.

The profile is one half of one account

The same account that publishes your public profile also writes structured prescriptions, tracks chamber-wise FULL / SPLIT / RENT settlement, runs your serial & queue, and verifies each prescription with a public authenticity link. The online serials that patients book from your profile flow straight into that queue — one system, from the first Google search to the month-end statement. See it all on the features tour or try the no-signup demo.

Prescriply is free to start — 30 prescriptions in total, with your public profile, directory listing and online booking included from day one. Pro is ৳199/month for unlimited prescriptions and an assistant seat, and Clinic is ৳499/month for up to ten assistant seats. Every plan gets the profile and the directory listing free.

Frequently asked questions

Is the doctor profile really free?

Yes. Every doctor on Prescriply — including those on the ৳0 Free plan — gets a public profile and a directory listing at no cost. Patients can find you and reserve an appointment serial for free; you pay nothing to be listed and placement in the directory is never sold.

How do patients find my profile?

Your profile is listed in the public directory at prescriply.bd/doctors, grouped by specialty (for example /doctors/cardiology), and it has its own search-engine-friendly address at prescriply.bd/dr/{specialty}/{username}. That means Google and answer engines can index it, and a patient searching your name or specialty can reach it.

What does the 'Registration reviewed by Prescriply' badge mean?

It means a Prescriply admin has manually reviewed and approved the BM&DC registration number you submitted. It is a manual review, not an automated check against the BM&DC's own register — patients can confirm a registration directly at verify.bmdc.org.bd. The badge is about registration, not clinical competence.

How are doctors ranked in the directory?

The directory is open to every doctor on equal terms. Within a specialty, doctors whose registration has been reviewed by Prescriply are shown first, then by how recently their profile was updated. Ranking is by a disclosed, objective signal — placement is never sold.

Is booking an appointment free for patients?

Yes. Reserving a serial number online through your profile is always free for the patient. They pay only your own consultation fee at the chamber. You enable booking in Settings and can set which chambers and time windows accept online serials.

What patient data appears on my public profile?

None. The public profile shows only your own professional information — name, specialty, qualifications, chambers, hours and languages. No patient's name, contact or clinical data ever appears on it. Patient records stay private inside your account.
